Indonesia welcomes inaugural FIA Rallycross World Cup to Southeast Asia
Jakarta will host the inaugural FIA Rallycross World Cup on 5–6 December 2026, becoming the first city in Southeast Asia to stage the new FIA competition. The race will take place at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit (JIEC) in Ancol, marking the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile’s (FIA) expansion of rallycross into the region.
As preparations get underway, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the city was honoured to host the event and had instructed all relevant agencies to ensure its successful delivery. The Jakarta administration is targeting 30,000 spectators and has pledged comprehensive support, including infrastructure readiness, security, traffic management and public transport services.
That support is complemented by the circuit’s strategic location, with nearby hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions, as well as convenient access via TransJakarta buses and the KRL commuter rail network. Governor Pramono said the FIA Rallycross World Cup would generate economic benefits beyond the racetrack by boosting tourism, hospitality, transport, logistics, food and beverage businesses, as well as local small and medium-sized enterprises. He added that the event, featuring top-class Euro RX1 internal combustion-powered cars, would further strengthen Jakarta’s reputation as an international sports and entertainment destination.
The race also forms part of a broader effort to attract more global sporting events to Indonesia. Indonesian entrepreneur Aryo PS Djojohadikusumo, Founder of SARGA Group, the parent company of SARGA.CO, said hosting the FIA Rallycross World Cup represents the beginning of a long-term vision to bring world-class sports and entertainment events to the country while raising Jakarta’s international profile.
Echoing that ambition, James Nixon, Sporting Manager of the FIA Rallycross Championship, welcomed the Jakarta Provincial Government’s support, saying close cooperation with public authorities is essential for delivering an event of this scale. He said the FIA looked forward to working with the city to showcase the inaugural FIA Rallycross World Cup to a global audience and expressed hope that the race would become a major fixture on the international rallycross calendar.
