Twenty-five Indonesian regional heads will travel to Singapore as part of a leadership development programme organised by Indonesia’s National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) to study best practices in governance, public service delivery, and digital administration.
Indonesia’s National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) has announced that 25 regional government leaders will participate in a study visit to Singapore under the third batch of its Regional Leadership Strengthening Course (KPPD). The programme, which runs from 15 to 18 July 2026, aims to strengthen the leadership capacity of regional heads by exposing them to international best practices in governance and public service.
Speaking in Central Jakarta, Lemhannas Governor Ace Hasan Syadzily said the delegation will visit the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore (NUS). During the visit, participants will gain insights into Singapore’s approaches to public service delivery, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, waste management, and the implementation of digital administrative systems to improve government efficiency.
Before travelling to Singapore, the participants will undertake a one-week leadership course at Lemhannas. The programme is designed to strengthen core values essential for effective governance, including nationalism, integrity, ethical leadership, and strategic decision-making. Following the overseas component, the regional leaders will present the lessons and recommendations from their study visit to the Human Resource Development Agency of Indonesia’s Ministry of Home Affairs.
Syadzily expressed confidence that the programme would help develop capable and forward-looking regional leaders who can implement innovative governance practices and improve the quality of public services across Indonesia. He emphasised that international exposure, combined with leadership training, is expected to contribute to stronger regional development and greater public welfare.
The current KPPD cohort comprises 23 district heads and two mayors representing regions across Indonesia, including Sinjai, Banjarnegara, West Kotawaringin, Biak Numfor, Manokwari, Intan Jaya, Mimika, Central Maluku, Tanimbar Islands, Central Halmahera, Morotai Island, Lembata, East Flores, West Sumbawa, Central Hulu Sungai, Sukamara, Aceh Besar, Seluma, Polewali Mandar, Muaro Jambi, Kerinci, Lebak, West Tulang Bawang, Lhokseumawe, and Pangkalpinang.
