A limited-time dining collaboration brings the rich, home-style flavours of Penang’s Peranakan heritage to Singapore. Guests can enjoy an indulgent à la carte buffet curated by Madam Cheah Soo Fuen from 18 to 28 June 2026.

York Hotel Singapore celebrates 40 years of serving authentic Penang cuisine with a special culinary collaboration that pays tribute to heritage and tradition. From 18 to 28 June 2026, the hotel presents A Penang Peranakan Culinary Showcase at White Rose Café, in partnership with Jason Nyonya House from Penang, Malaysia.
This exclusive dining experience spotlights the soulful and intricate flavours of Penang Peranakan cuisine through a thoughtfully curated à la carte buffet menu. The showcase is helmed by Madam Cheah Soo Fuen, whose recipes—refined over generations—reflect the essence of home-style Nyonya cooking. Working alongside her son, Jason Chan, founder of Jason Nyonya House, she brings a deeply personal touch to each dish.
Penang Peranakan cuisine is celebrated for its complex layering of Chinese, Malay, and Thai influences, and this menu captures that distinctive identity. Diners can expect dishes infused with aromatic herbs and spices such as daun kaduk (wild betel leaf), daun kesum (laksa leaf), lemongrass, cinnamon, tamarind, and butterfly pea flower, all hallmarks of northern Penang cooking traditions.
Among the highlights are signature dishes that have earned Jason Nyonya House its loyal following. The Gulai Tumis Ikan Pari offers tender stingray in a tangy, spiced gravy, while the Assam Prawn delivers a bold sweet-and-sour punch. Kari Kapitan features succulent chicken cooked in a richly spiced curry paste, complemented by fragrant staples like Nasi Ulam and Nasi Bunga Telang.
The spread also includes comforting Peranakan favourites such as Jiu Hu Char, Otak-Otak, Kiam Chye Ark, Buah Keluak Kay, Khong Babi Assam, Tu Ka Chor, Tau Yu Bak, and Eng Chai Sambal Hae Bee—dishes often associated with family gatherings and festive occasions. Each item is freshly prepared upon order, ensuring both quality and authenticity.
“This menu is deeply personal to my mother and me,” shares Jason Chan. “This collaboration allows us to share our heritage and create a meaningful dining experience in Singapore, especially for Penangites who cherish these flavours.”
Founded in George Town, Jason Nyonya House has built a strong reputation for its authentic, home-style cooking, earning accolades such as the Malaysia Best Award and Best Restaurant 2025 by Restaurant Guru Malaysia. Its legacy lies in recipes passed down through generations—preserved through practice, instinct, and an intimate understanding of spices and herbs.
The showcase is available daily for lunch (12.00 p.m. to 2.30 p.m.) and dinner (6.30 p.m. to 10.00 p.m.), priced at S$40 per adult and S$20 per child aged 5 to 11. The experience is complemented by a selection of beverages, including Chilled Butterfly Pea Flower Tea, Chilled Bandung with Grass Jelly, Lemongrass Tea, Kopi ‘O’, and Teh Tarik.
Blending tradition with celebration, this limited-time event offers a rare opportunity to savour the enduring flavours of Penang’s Peranakan heritage—right in the heart of Singapore.
